Watercolour Courses For Everybody
Our aim is to provide a course that will suit you. Whether you are just starting out in watercolours or have been painting for a while you will find it beneficial. We can improve your sketching with life classes, or take you out and paint real landscapes on our painting holidays that each year are proving more and more popular. If you don't own any painting materials but would still like to try painting, don't worry, we have sets already made up that you can hire for the day so you can try watercolour painting before buying lots of materials.

Ready To Paint Sketches
I am producing ready to paint sketches from sketches that I have done on painting holidays and sketching days out, I then scan these into the computer and then print them on to Saunders Waterford paper. This takes away the fear of spending two or three hours sketching and then making a mistake while painting. The student knows that all I need to do is press a button and they will have another sketch to work from.

The Derbyshire Painting Holiday
We are now three quarters of the way through the painting holidays.. The last holiday being Derbyshire, the weather could have been better but we all had a good time.everybody enjoyed the holiday and have asked for it to be put on again next year.

don't worry, you can hire materials for the day, so don't rush out buying materials wait until we've had a chat, and use the palette that I have already set up for hire.

I have lots of sketches I have done on painting holidays and days out in Derbyshire that I turn into ready to paint sketches and initially we will be working from these.
If you are a beginner we will be painting from ready to paint sketches as a paint along. If you are an improver you can set your own pace or work along with the rest of us.

I will be doing live classes on a regular basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to improve your sketching skills, they are five-hour lessons with a lunch break provided.
Weekly two-hour Lessons
There are various watercolour courses for all requirements. During the week there are two hour lessons on Tuesday-Wednesday and Thursday held during the day and in the evenings.

The cost of the two hour courses is £10 for the two hours.
The Monthly Saturday Workshops
The Saturday indoor watercolour workshop starts at 10.00am and we go through the basics of watercolour painting, working on linear perspective, aerial perspective, colour mixing, the key measure and tone control. At 1.30pm we have a break and a light lunch and then at 2.00pm we start a painting either from a ready to paint sketch of mine or if the student is confident they can sketch their own from my template and we will work together as a paint along(I paint a bit, you paint a bit). We finish at 6.00pm and can enjoy looking at our finished work. If you have never painted before dont worry I will take you through the basics and painting materials can be hired for the day.
My aim is to introduce the new starter to watercolours in a steady and relaxed way, I find people adapt better if all pressure is removed from them and they are given time to evolve. With a max number of students being seven I am able to give each individual all the time they need to finish their painting. The workshops are on

Life Classes
Throughout the year we run life drawing classes, we put these on when we get enough people interested. Life drawing is a good way for you to get used to using tone to show shape, please contact me if you are interested.
Sketching Days
Occationally we put on a painting day in Derbyshire when enough people show interest and so we cannot give a fixed date, but if you are interested please contact me and your name will be added for future reference.
