
This painting was done from a sketch that I did on a painting holiday in North Wales.I have found that all castles are a good source of inspiration and material.

Staithes has a small fishing village in North Yorkshire just north of Whitby. I cannot think of an artist that is not at one time painted something from staithes, it has got to be one of the foremost artist locations.

Beeley is a small village in Derbyshire and forms part of the Chatsworth estate. This view has been the inspiration for many paintings by many different artists and just one look at itwill show you the reason why.

Grasmere is in the Lake District, and this view is the old part of Grasmere. To sketch the scene I stood with my back to Dove cottage where Wordsworth lived, a much more interesting scene than Dove cottage itself I feel.

for me the Langdale Pike area of the Lake District has got to be the best area of all the Lake District
