WhatsNew:
Ready To Paint Sketches
I am producing ready to paint sketches from sketches that I have done on painting holidays and sketching days out, I then scan these into the computer and then print them on to Saunders Waterford paper. This takes away the fear of spending two or three hours sketching and then making a mistake while painting. The student knows that all I need to do is press a button and they will have another sketch to work from.

INGLETON COMPLETED
- The first holiday of 2011 is to take place in Ingleton North Yorkshire 16th May to 20th May. There are many wonderful views in the area including the old village of Dent with its cobbled streets and interesting stories, including the female blacksmith. The church at Dent is where the loin of beef gets the name Sirloin after being knighted by Henry. There is the church and village at Chapel le Dale where many of the people who died building the Ribblehead viaduct are buried. The hotel is the Riverside Lodge in Ingleton. The hotel has only eight rooms and are issued on a strictly first-come first-served basis the overflow taking up hotels next door.
THE LAKE DISTRICT COMPLETED
- The second holiday in 2011 is in the Lake District 6th-10th June 2011.the accommodation is that the Derwentwater Lodge Hotel just outside Keswick, we used the hotel last year and found it very popular. It is not a large hotel so again it's first come first served but there is other accommodation nearby that we use. The venues will include Langdale Pike, Ashness bridge, Thirlmere, Grange and Kirkstone pass.
DERBYSHIRE COMPLETED
- The third holiday of 2011 is in Derbyshire based around Baslow and will include Eyam, Curbar Edge, Beeley, Ashford in the water and Baslow. The accommodation is yet to be fixed but will be posted as soon as it is arranged
BRITTANY
-
The last holiday of 2011 is in Brittany at Allineuc , the date been 18th-25th Sept 2011. Allineuc is 50 miles from Saint-Malo port and Dinard airport . The accommodation is at http://www.allineuc.com/ and Brian Evans, who owns the accommodation, will pick up from the airport and transport to the accommodation. Also during the holiday Brian will supply the transport and so on arriving in Brittany the transport is taken care of.
Ryan air do flights from all over the UK to Dinard, and the holiday will run from Sunday to Sunday, Wednesday will be a day off from painting and the chance to catch up on a little bit of shopping, again Brian taking you on a sightseeing trip on the north coast of Brittany. On the Sunday of arrival we will be having a buffet at the accommodation giving us all a chance to meet and get to know each other. On our last night , Saturday night, we will enjoy a barbecue put on by Brian at the accommodation.
Brian also has a number of pitches for caravans or motorhomes and will have the full use of all facilities in the Manoir and will also be transported with the rest of the group for an evening meal. Click here to go to booking form.

Holiday Features
Share a car to the venues: To reduce costs of both petrol and parking, I promote car sharing. There are some venues when we are required to park on the street and sharing cars reduces that number of parking spaces required. The first car we fill is mine which is used every day and if anybody wishes to come with me and leave their car at the accommodation they can.
Share our experiences in the evening: I like us to meet up in the evening and share the adventures of the day. I feel that the evening get-togethers are just as important as the days spent at the venues.
Hotel costs: We try to get good value from any hotel that we use. Sometimes we are able to get the hotel to throw an evening meal, or give a little discount on single occupancy of any rooms. Or if you wish you can get your own accommodation or use your caravan as we do and we can advise on the caravan site.
Material hire: If you are new to watercolour painting and dont want to lay out on materials until you have triedwatercolour painting, I have paints and brushes already set up for hire (£10/week).
Holiday duration: The holidays normally run from Monday to Friday, but I do recommend arriving on the Sunday and leaving on the Saturday. This gives you a nice relaxing evening before and after the holiday. The Brittany holiday runs from Sunday to Sunday, this is to fit in with the Ryanair flights from the East Midlands airport. Other airports that Ryanair use do have different days and so flying from East Midlands is a definite advantage. A minibus from Bolsover to East Midlands and return is provided at cost.
Deposit and payment: We ask for a deposit at the time of booking a holiday and the rest of the pavement one month before the holiday. The deposit is non-refundable. So we suggest you take out holiday insurance to cover unforseen circumstances.
Painting demos: I am quite willing to put on a painting demo at any time during the holiday. We have a room at most of the hotels that we can use as a standby against bad weather on all of the holidays and this is an ideal opportunity to work from ready to paint sketches as a paint along.
Walking distances: I try to keep the walking down to a minimum, upto 300 yards maximum. If you do have problems walking please let me know and I will arrange things to help you.
Food & Drink: I recommend you take a flask with you to all the venues, not all are close enough to a town for a break. Most hotels will fix is up with a few sandwiches and a biscuit for lunch.
Payments:.This can be done with a debit or credit card through paypal on the buy now button or a cheque.
